In this photo, the 4th of July parade was held on Purchase and Union Streets.
It had special guests in the parade.
Seen that day were Major W.B. Topham Chief Marshall.
There were seen a platoon of police and the Hills New Bedford Band amongst other marchers.
People dressed more formally in those days and used umbrellas more than today.
I suspect that the umbrellas were for protection from the sun rather than the rain on that day. |
