A group of boys were congregating outside of the Elm Bowling and Pool at 32 Elm Street in New Bedford
on a cold January Day in 1912.
In this picture, you can notice that the smaller boys are wearing knee socks and the
older boys are wearing pants.
That was a sign of coming of age.
The sign is made within the outline of an elm leaf.
