You can't help but notice that when it rained or snowed the driver had no windshield so that driving this rig into the weather had to be miserable at best.
During this era, there were coats made to withstand the rain, but it still hit you in the face, pants and shoes etc., so that the driver and passengers up front, if there were any, got wet.
The mail had to be delivered and the mailman's creed was:
"Neither rain, nor snow, nor dark of night shall keep me from my appointed rounds".
